How does the laser skin/hair treatment work? Is it safe?

Updated: Jun 18, 2022

Laser is an acronym for "light amplification by the stimulated emission of radiation".

To make it simple for understanding, it is the certain waves of the light aiming at skin target tissues, such as water molecules, melanin, pigments, and hemoglobin, fat, collagen. This means those skin problems such as wrinkles, hyperpigmentation, broken capillary, cellulite, etc. can be treated in a targeted and in-depth manner.

Laser technology has been used in skin treatment for some time, its safety is well established.

For hair reduction, laser targets only the hair follicles containing melanin.

For photoaging, the laser targets the water molecules and collagens.

In acne treatment, the main focus is on the funnel area of the hair follicles and the sebaceous glands.

For pigmented lesions, the laser targets melanocytes and melatonin.

Vascular lesions, such as facial flushing, erythema, broken capillary, and rosesa, are targeting hemoglobins.

Scar management refers to some traumatic scars, burns, and stretch marks, targeting collagen and water molecules.
